Beach-urban photo sessions
Dogs of Fun recently did two urban beach photo shoots - and we loved every minute of it. By choosing popular and well-developed South Florida beach locations, we were able to combine that beach feel we all know and love along with a slight urban feel. This way, we were able to get both a beach and an urban shoot at the same location during a one-hour photo session.
First, I met with Peaches - @PeachesThePittyBull - at Lauderdale by the Sea. We enjoyed the very early morning light and had some fun in the sand while taking advantage on the golden sunlight. Peaches was in her natural habitat, having fun and running around all along. Afterwards, we walked across the street and enhanced our scenario with the more downtown feel provided by the beach condos. This made for a wonderful urban look with a more classy feel. Because Peaches is a beach girl, we moved to the neighboring Fort Lauderdale Beach area where she was happily (and finally) allowed to get wet. Here we had the iconic Fort Lauderdale Beach setting with blue skies, high rises in the background, and one very happy puppy.
Another setting we recently chose for Mr. Hamilton Barkley - @HamiltonBarkley - was Miami Beach, with its classic charm and art deco architecture. We started at Ocean Drive and 8th Street (hmm, Wet Willie’s anyone?). Once again we began the photo session right at sunrise to take advantage of the beautiful sunlight and a less crowded Ocean Drive. For Hami’s shoot, we took the first pictures by the sand where he modeled for us, followed by some shots strolling by the beach. He was on point and eager to show his wardrobe changes, which were beyond awesome. For the remainder of the shoot we walked around for 2 blocks and used the beautiful architecture as our setting. The outcome was fantastic! It allowed to portray Hami as the dapper metropolitan pup he is. By selecting the Miami Beach location, we were able to have a hybrid shoot that combined beautiful beach shots with a modern urban look in just one session.
As a dog photographer, my job is to create amazing portraits of your four-legged family. These photo sessions are a perfect example of how any location is a great place to capture your dog’s personality and let him/her shine and have fun. The key is to shoot at a place your pup loves and feels comfortable at. In these instances, both of my new found friends were beach lovers and they felt right at home, therefore their modeling sessions were just another play session for them that happened to have some sit and stay commands and many treats.
